What is your daily driver — and does it embarrass your weekend car?
Confession time. I own a Ford GT. It does roughly 4,000 miles per year. The rest of the time I need something practical — so I daily a 2023 Volvo XC60 T8. I love the GT. But the Volvo is genuinely more capable for 80% of life. Better visibility, better fuel consumption (electric range in town), comfortable, practical. Does your daily driver shame your weekend machine? I'd love to hear what the double-garage crowd is actually running day-to-day. Anyone here daily something surprising?
From a pure engineering standpoint the 50/50 split is where road-relevant powertrain development has been heading for a decade already. F1 staying combustion-dominant would have made the sport's technology transfer argument look increasingly hollow.
I think it's a bit of both honestly. He's not wrong that the character of driving has changed, but plenty of great drivers have adapted to bigger regulation shifts before and come out the other side just as dominant.
