McLaren 750S — 2 months ownership, honest review

I traded my 720S for the 750S in January. Two months in, here's where I stand: WHAT'S BETTER: the steering rack is sharper — genuinely a step up. Active dynamics are more intuitive. The new 4.0 twin-turbo feels freer at the top end, though the 29 hp gain isn't dramatic on road. WHAT'S THE SAME (good): the ride quality in comfort mode is still shocking for a car that does 0-100 in 2.8s. The visibility through that curved windscreen. The hydraulic suspension doing its magic. WHAT I MISS: the 720S was lighter-feeling. The 750S feels slightly more planted and less nervous — some will love that, I occasionally miss the knife-edge quality of the 720. Verdict: Best two-seat supercar you can actually use. Every day. In traffic. In the rain.

George, I'm considering the exact same upgrade. My 720S has 28,000 miles on it and I want to keep it as a second car but get the 750S as the main machine. The steering improvement is the key detail. The 720S steering was good but the 750S feedback I noticed on a brief test drive felt more precise at the limit. Can you confirm that holds at real track pace?

@Sophie: Absolutely confirmed at track pace. I did a half-day at Silverstone last month. The additional stiffness in the front end translates to a clearer communication of front grip — you know earlier when you're approaching the limit, which lets you carry more speed into corners with confidence. Kept both 720 and 750 for a month. The 750 is better in every measurable way. The 720 has a certain rawness I'll miss.

The active chassis question: is the proactive damping system in the 750S genuinely better or just different? I found the 720S with the linked hydraulic suspension so extraordinary that I wonder if the electronic 750S system can match it qualitatively. Asking as someone considering the Huayra R vs 750S as my next car — very different choices I know, but both live at different extremes of what I want.
