Is paying above sticker for an allocation-only hypercar ever a smart move?

With the W1, Tourbillon and now the Ferrari successor all being allocation-only, limited-run cars, the secondary market premiums are already getting silly before some of these have even been delivered. As someone who deals mostly in classics, my instinct is that flipping-driven premiums rarely age well once the initial hype cools — plenty of 'instant classics' from the last two decades are worth less in real terms now than their launch price. But allocation cars from marques with genuinely finite, collector-tracked production runs have historically been the exception rather than the rule. Anyone here actually bought above list recently? How are you thinking about it — pure passion purchase or calculated bet?
