Full ground-effect road cars: McLaren W1 and Aston Valkyrie compared

With the W1 now shipping, we officially have two road-legal cars running true ground-effect aerodynamics — underbody tunnels generating meaningful downforce the way an LMP1 or F1 car does, rather than relying purely on wings. Valkyrie is the more radical execution: naturally aspirated V12 plus hybrid, near-zero ground clearance, a driving position that's closer to a race seat than a road car. W1 takes a twin-turbo V8 hybrid route with what sounds like a meaningfully more livable ride and cabin. Genuinely fascinating that after decades of ground effect being banned or heavily restricted on track, it's arriving on the road via two completely different philosophies at once.
