Is Verstappen right to be fed up with the electric-heavy engines?

Word in the paddock is Verstappen isn't thrilled about how reliant the new power units are on the electrical side, and it's part of what's fuelling the McLaren speculation. I get the sentiment from a purist's seat — the sound and the throttle response through a corner exit is different now, more managed, less raw. But from an engineering standpoint the 50/50 split is exactly where road-relevant performance is heading, and F1 staying combustion-only forever was never realistic. Is this a case of the greatest driver of his generation just missing the old car, or a legitimate concern about where the sport is going?
